Leading Contract Manufacturer Finishes Second Expansion in Three Years for Advanced Manufacturing Facility

Bethel, Vermont – In response to its growing medical device business, advanced contract manufacturing and injection molding company GW Plastics, Inc. has completed the latest expansion of its Royalton, Vermont Manufacturing and Technology Center. GW Plastics has added a 30,000 ft² expansion to accommodate the growth of its thermoplastic injection molding and medical device contract assembly business.

The expansion includes a new 13,000 ft² Class 8 cleanroom capable of housing an additional 30 injection molding machines. This expansion also includes an additional 17,000 ft² of warehousing space. GW Plastics has added over 30 new jobs and invested more than $10,000,000 in construction, new technology, and equipment. The expanded facilities will accommodate immediate growth for GW Plastics’ thermoplastic molding business and will allow the company to expand affiliate GW Silicones’ cleanroom molding operations.

GW Plastics first established its Royalton, VT facilities in the late 1980s with the relocation and expansion of its Mold-Making Division, followed by its Process Development Center. GW Plastics further expanded its Royalton site with a thermoplastic molding facility in 1999 and silicone molding facility in 2008. This year’s expansion marks the company’s fifth expansion in Royalton.

Today, the 24-acre campus houses GW Plastics’ Product Development Center, Process Development and Training Center, Mold-Making Division, GW Plastics Royalton molding facility, and GW Silicones. The Manufacturing and Technology Center houses some of GW Plastics’ most sophisticated technology, including 3D printers for plastic and steel to support prototyping and mold-making, as well as robotically assisted injection molding and contract manufacturing. With the latest expansion, the Manufacturing and Technology Center will cover 90,000 ft² of advanced manufacturing space.

“We are delighted to announce the completion of this expansion in our home state of Vermont, reaffirming our commitment to growing in Vermont and the United States while serving the needs of our customers globally,” stated Brenan Riehl, President and CEO of GW Plastics. “We are proud of our team and our history of consistent growth in Vermont and around the world.”
