"This webinar will explore the friction-reducing material components of vascular devices. These devices, such as catheters and guidewires, minimize the friction between vascular tissues or other devices, reduce procedure times and enhance maneuverability. Surface treatments can be evaluated based on three areas: lubricity, durability, and particulates. Hydrophilic coatings, extrusion additives, silicone oils and polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) have all been used as treatments to minimize friction as the medical device is advanced in the body. Each of the surface treatment options has a range of frictional forces. During this session, you will learn how to best evaluate these for your next project.
Individuals who are involved in the discovery, design and management of interventional medical devices will benefit from this educational opportunity."
