Why Custom Compounds Matter: High-Tech Molding for Medical Applications

Medical applications demand the highest level of performance and accuracy. When it comes to medical molding, failure is not an option, and desirable characteristics might not be readily available from a stock material. An experienced medical molder will be able to develop a custom formulation to achieve any number of unique characteristics. Custom formulations, however, require adept process control, a deep understanding of the unique requirements of how the part will be used, and extensive experience in material properties and compounding. This paper will address the myriad factors involved in choosing the right material and the right process.
