IPE manufactures and distributes custom profile extrusions made from porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) and a variety of melt thermoplastic materials. We use the latest in polymer techniques to reduce costs and shorten lead times for the manufacture of small diameter tubing.

Materials

Part performance and cost efficiency is achieved through matching the right material to the right application. IPE can extrude the material you need for your application and we will do so to exact standards. Some of the materials that we process include LDPE, HDPE, PP, TPR, TPE, PVDF, Rigid and Flexible PVC, nylon, Pebax, Tecoflex, ABS, PU, and PC.  IPE can also perform fabrication and value-added processes such as bending, flaring, and precision cutting.  IPE can develop the process and machinery to produce your custom shaping, forming or secondary operation or work in conjunction with a fabricator to deliver your custom extrusion component.

Melt Thermoplastic Extrusions

IPE is highly experienced in the extrusion of melt thermoplastic materials including polyurethane, nylon, polyethylene and many others. We extrude a variety of materials in numerous configurations and with tight dimensional control. We also cut extrusions according to precise customer specifications.  We are meticulous about the quality of our product. Product dimensions are monitored throughout the process. Extensive records of each run are kept per our ISO 9001 documentation system and SPC records can be provided upon request.

PTFE

Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) is a fully fluorinated polymer with exceptional chemical and physical characteristics.  These include:  excellent chemical resistance, high temperature stability, good dielectric and non-stick properties and exceptional resistance to degeneration of mechanical properties under severe conditions.  Material made from expanded PTFE ( ePTFE ) offers you more than the standard properties of PTFE. Expanded PTFE is soft, flexible and porous. Porous PTFE is permeable to air, yet watertight under low pressure. The structure of porous PTFE is the key.  IPE manufactures material which can be collapsed longitudinally without significant change in external diameter.  See PTFE tube being flexed and compressed.

FluoroFlex® Endoscopic Working Channels

IPE 's FluoroFlex® endoscopic working channels (EWC) are constructed with an inner layer of solid PTFE while the outer layer is porous PTFE with a spiral support incorporated into the structure for radial support of the inner layer. The outer porous PTFE layer acts like a spring wrap, providing kink and compression resistance.  The inherent lubricity of the PTFE inner layer allows instruments to pass freely with minimal resistance. Both the inner and outer layers of material have a long history of use in medical products. The finished channels maintain integrity throughout sterilization procedures and allow flex angles of up to 210 degrees.  A chart of FluoroFlex® Endoscopic Working Channel standard tubing sizes is also available.
