Hatboro, Pennsylvania – April 27th, 2015 – M&S Centerless Grinding, Inc. hosted Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf, as part of his “Jobs That Pay Tour” that has taken him through the State. The “Jobs That Pay Tour” is part of the administration’s efforts to highlight its plan for significant new investments in manufacturing, economic development and workforce training aimed at rebuilding Pennsylvania’s middle class. Governor Wolf has toured the state meeting with manufacturers and entrepreneurs to listen to how the commonwealth can support their businesses to create more jobs and better train workers.
M&S Centerless Grinding, Inc. is a shining example of the core components of this initiative in action. Started in the 1950’s by Meron Shegda, the company focuses on solving high-end manufacturing issues for the medical, aerospace, power generation, fiber optic and other high-tech industries. The company’s workforce is comprised largely of young, talented, motivated people who opted toward industry instead of college – exactly the people on which that the Governor’s “Tour” is focused.
The second generation owner, John Shegda, takes great pride in the fact that people around the world are positively impacted by the Company’s ability to help bring “game changing” products to market where they can change lives. Products such as TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) to replace heart valves without open heart surgery, and neurovascular projects that mitigate the risks associated with brain aneurisms only scratch the surface of the impact the company has on lives around the world.
The Company has seen such promise and opportunity in the medical arena that a second company, Meron Medical (named after the M&S founder) was created to focus on medical projects that improve lives. This division now has several projects that have moved to production, and is quickly becoming a critical supplier in the medical device manufacturing industry. The company focuses primarily on the manufacture of mandrels, guidewires, hypodermic tubing and implant components driven by progressive device manufacturers that want to push the limits of the industry, and develop new, groundbreaking technology. Meron Medical works closely with the device engineers to clear the developmental roadblocks that can arise, and help to streamline the pathway to market.
