AMETEK’s Engineered Medical Components division (AMETEK EMC) combines the proven strengths of TSE and Avicenna to provide device manufacturers with products focused on transmitting electrical signal and delivering electrical therapy. TSE’s products include medical cables, custom connectors, and engineered medical device interconnects. Avicenna’s products include components for catheters and stimulationleads such as fine wire harnesses, laser machined extrusions, laser welded electrodes, and laser ablated conductors. Together TSE and Avicenna are able to offer fully constructed electrically active catheters.
Engineers at TSE and Avicenna are organized into customer focused teams that are geared to best understand customer needs and then deliver the right solutions at the opportune time. TSE and Avicenna are ISO 13485 certified and execute a New Product Development model that aims to serve as an extension of our customer’s own design and development functions. AMETEK EMC performs all validations necessary to support product development and generates validation reports for customer’s design history files. Products developed with this model are unique to each customer and often exceed the original design parameters.
TSE designs,engineers, and manufactures complete cable and interconnect systems for demanding applications. TSE are experts at producing coaxial cable; high speed, high temp, high flex, and low capacitance cables; and specialty cables with conductors as fine as 54AWG.
TSE understands the important role raw cable plays in the success of any interconnect solution. TSE designs custom cable based on the system’s performance requirements. TSE can fine tune a cable’s electrical and mechanical properties to excel in specific environmental conditions. TSE custom cable offers enhanced bonding and tensile strength between cable and connector; offers ultra low tribo-electric noise performance; and can be made of hybrid constructions that incorporate lumens for pneumatics, liquids, and fiber-optics.
Once design and construction of the raw cable is complete TSE applies its assembly expertise. This expertise includes laser stripping jacketed lead wires and terminating these wires to pins and connectors by crimping, by soldering, or by using insulation displacement connectors. TSE has expertise terminating cable to standard connectors such as Dsubs, DINs, and BINs; and to specialty medical connectors such as the EC6, the IEC 601, and TENS.
Finally TSE applies its molding processes to the terminated cable assembly. TSE’s molding engineers ensure superior mechanical performance of the finished interconnect by designing the proper strain relief and by determining the appropriate process and materials. TSE’s molding processes include insert molding, over molding, transfer molding and liquid injection molding. The materials TSE employs in its molding processes include silicone, PVC, TPR, and conductive resins.
TSE provides electrical connector design guidance for all cable and interconnect solutions. TSE has the engineering expertise to transform standard connectors to meet the performance specifications of a particular application. When modifications to standard connectors will not suffice, TSE designs custom connectors that deliver enhanced performance in the areas of aesthetics, mechanical latching, contact reliability, and environmental sealing.
