Thermoformed Medical Device Components
Welch Fluorocarbon’s expertise lies in converting thin (starting gauges typically range between .003” to .060”) high performance films into intricate three dimensional shapes using the technique of thermoforming. A selection of high performance materials that Welch Fluorocarbon can expertly thermoform include:
- Homopolymer Polypropylene
- And more…
Welch Fluorocarbon’s thermoforming process can deliver extremely thin wall thicknesses down to approximately 1.0mil (.001”). Components with such thin walls are in high demand for applications where space is at a premium, such as implantable medical devices (pacemakers, implantable cardiac defibrillators, cochlear implants, etc). The following is a list of distinctive solutions that Welch Fluorocarbon’s thermoformed components can offer to the medical device industry:
Implantable medical device components for battery and capacitor insulation. An excellent pinhole free alternative to Parylene Coatings.
- Chemical Resistance
For applications that require a material that can stand up to the harshest environments.
- Temperature Resistance
Perfect for applications that require high maximum use temperatures. An excellent alternative or replacement for polyimide tapes, which are labor intensive.
For applications that require a non-reactive material
For applications that need a non-stick material or non-wettable surface
