Sunnyvale, CA (February 10, 2014) – Lumenous Device Technologies, Inc., a medical device contract manufacturer and design house for minimally-invasive devices, is introducing new processes and expanded capacity in facilities located in China and in California. Every business unit is expanding including materials, components, and assembly. Adding 25,000 square feet (2300 sq. m.) of production space, new equipment, and personnel growth, Lumenous will expand access to its leading capabilities in laser-cutting, laser-welding, surface finishing, China supply chain solutions, critical subassembly, final device assembly, and nitinol device engineering. New products include custom nitinol materials, coil winding, tapered guidewire cores, and endograft sewing. The new investment facilitates the growth of advanced nitinol medical devices manufactured in China. According to President Todd Dickson, “Local and multinational businesses in Asia are maturing and bringing vitality to the medical device sector globally. We are increasing capacity in the US and China – up to
250% for some processes – to facilitate world-class product development and production growth for companies in Europe, Asia, and the Americas.”
Lumenous pioneers production and product technology for minimally-invasive medical devices. In the Materials unit, Lumenous specializes in nitinol wire and tubing and stainless steel wire including standard and custom specifications. In the Components unit, Lumenous sets the standard in laser-cutting, coiling, electrochemical sharpening, and electropolishing in a variety of minimally invasive medical devices including vascular, general surgery, ophthalmology, and orthopedic products. (Filters, valves, stents, steerable catheter shafts, microcoils,
and tapered guidewire cores are examples.) In the Assembly unit, Lumenous offers reliable high-performance capabilities including laser-welding, resistance welding, microadhesive bonding, and endograft sewing.
