New York, NY:  Toray, Industries Inc., NANOALLOY™ technology is an innovative microstructure control technology developed by Toray that can bring about dramatic improvement in characteristics compared to existing materials by combining multiple polymers on a nano-metric scale. The technology enables high performance and functionality in polymers which could not be achieved in conventional alloys of micron-metric scale (one millionth of a meter), and is a revolutionary technology whose basic patent, core process patents and utility patents are owned by Toray.

The characteristics of NANOALLOY™ technology applied TORAYCON™ PBT/PC is a material that has both excellent chemical resistance and high impact resistance. NANOALLOY™ technology applied TORAYCON™ PBT/PC can be used as an alternative material when PC, PC/ABS and ABS don’t have sufficient chemical resistance. It also has excellent resistance to disinfectants such as alcohol, sodium hypochlorite which are said to be effective against the new coronavirus and quaternary ammonium compounds-based disinfectants Sani-Cloth™*.

  • Excellent chemical resistance to various chemicals, disinfectants and detergents
  • High impact strength
  • Tested and meets ISO 10993 (part 5) for biocompatibility as PBT base resin
  • Resin pellets can be colored in various color.

NANOALLOY™ technology applied TORAYCON™ PBT/PC has potential applications in medical devices that require the following properties as an alternative to PC, PC/ABS, ABS, and include:

  • Applications that require high chemical resistance, such as repeated disinfectant cleaning
  • Applications that require high impact strength against drop impact or surface impact upon exposure to chemicals
